| The plan on this trip was to try and climb Manakau (2600m) on the Seaward Kaikouras on the rest day. However, a long previous day on the water meant that we set off for our bivy late, it was after midnight and we had not got far enough up Fidget stream. An alpine start wasn't happening the next morning... so we went searching for hot springs up "hot spring creek" - but alas no sign of them! Nevertheless, it was a full day's exercise and some of us even climbed a hill to watch the sunset. |
