Grand Combin, Haute Route

The crux of the Haute Route is the sunlit col (3700m) top-left in the picture. A small shelter sits on top of the rock face to the right (It's almost overhanging!). The truth is that this climb is not that steep or intimidating as the guide books suggest - at least under these conditions. What was very worrying was the avalanche hazard. It was very iffy when we went over - there were quite a few fresh tracks.
