Franz Joseph Glacier, Westland National Park

The view from Alex Knob. The Franz Joseph Glacier descends to only 200m or so above sea level, while the neve starts at 3000m. In this view the Main Divide appears to be a long ridge of "little" 3000m bumps. The peaks of the Minarets and De La Beche form the central high-point. Elie de Beaumount is the high peak on the left. The glacier is currently advancing at a rate of 1-2m per day!
