| Looking from the Outerere lava flows towards Ngauruhoe and the Tongariro complex, at the edge of the Rangipo desert (1000m). The Rangipo desert lies on the eastern side of Tongaririo National Park. Mineral deficiencies in the soil are the primary reason for the lack of forest cover. |
