Spiders! Arthurs Pass National Park

This might put some people off... but on one venture to the Otehake river in early March we encountered thousands of spiders in the river bed. They were big but harmless. I have never seen this sight before or since - it was amazing. However, soaking in the hotsprings while surrounded by spiders the size of your hand might not appeal to everyone ...but they're nicer than wetas!
