| Plateau Hut sits on the edge of the 1300m Hochstetter ice fall. The white tops of the Seracs behind the hut are more than 15m thick. The dirty gravel layer beneath corresponds to the massive Mt Cook Landslide in 1991... then there is the blue ice below. Basically, there are some big and deep crevasses on the Grand Plateau! |
